Woolly Wee Sheep by Churchmouse Yarns and Teas

What knitter doesn’t dream of having their own sheep? These handknit friends, created by Freshy Millsap, are a wee bit easier to care for than a real herd. Choose stockinette or garter stitch for fleecy variety—and knit your own flock!

Yarn

Fingering Weight Version:

Tiny Wee Sheep: 2 skeins Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift (115 yds/105m each):

1 each of main color (MC) and contrast color (CC). Makes approx. 5–6 sheep.

Or approx. 22 yds/20m MC and 12 yds/11m CC in an equivalent fingering-weight yarn per sheep.

DK Weight Version:

Larger Wee Sheep: 2 skeins Jamieson’s Double Knitting (82 yds/75m each):

1 each of main color (MC) and contrast color (CC). Makes approx. 3–4 sheep.

Or approx. 27 yds/25m MC and 16 yds/15m CC in an equivalent DK-weight yarn per sheep.

Both sizes: Approx. 15 yds/14m of crewel or fingering-weight yarn for embellishing.

Fingering Weight Version:

US 1-1/2 (2.5mm) set of 5 double-point needles, or size to obtain gauge.

US 0 (2mm) set of 5 double-point needles, or 2 sizes smaller than gauge needle.

DK Weight Version:

Larger Wee Sheep:

US 3 (3.25mm) set of 5 double-point needles, or size to obtain gauge.

US 1 (2.25mm) set of 5 double-point needles, or 2 sizes smaller than gauge needle.
