Based in Iceland, Lopi expertly creates hand knitting yarns that possess outstanding breathability & thermal insulation.  For over 1,000 years, sheep in Iceland have been roaming the sub-arctic climate.  Their adaption to the climate has given their wool a distinctive character.  The fleece is a combination of inner & outer fibers with the inner fibers being soft & insulating, while the outer fibers are long, durable & weather resistant.  Together the fibers create a yarn that is warm & durable. 

Fjallalopi is a sport/ light DK weight yarn spun with 100% Icelandic wool.  The single-ply yarn has a heritage feel & is ideal for lighter garments such as cardigans, sweaters, hats, cowls & mittens.  Rustic & durable, Fjallalopi is very well suited for stranded colorwork patterns.  A yarn for wool lovers, it is easy to work with & softens the more it is worn & blocked.

The yarn is dyed in a pleasing palette of traditional & modern heathers.
